Collectible Antiques
There are different kinds of antiques, the kind you furnish your home with, the kind you buy so you can say you have an antique and collectible antiques. Collectibles are things like lamps, Dolls, Books, Linen, Porcelain and China knickknacks or figurines. The most popular type of collectible is dolls. These dolls are mostly porcelain faces and hands and the outfits are made from the best silk and materials. The hair on these dolls feels like real hair. With dolls from different time periods which sometimes can be hard to find.
Antique Books are another great collectible, these books you can find at rare book dealers as well as antique dealers. First edition books are great to have, as you can see the writing style is so different than what we have today. Some of these books date as far back as 1900. Then you get the really rare books like the History of the Colleges of Winchester, Eton, this book was first published in 1816 and is worth about 2500.00. The subject of the book
Another great antique collectible is jewelry, antique jewelry is very unique looking and there is so much of it out there. If you own something from a great grandparent then your jewelry or possessions are considered antiques. Antique jewelry usually consists of rings, bracelets and broaches. To get a letter of authenticity of the age, you can bring it to an antique dealer or to a jewelry shop.
There are antique collectibles consisting of paper or stationary, letterheads ad billheads. A great collectible would actually be a letter that was written by someone in the 1800’s or the early 1900’s. These are hard to find but not impossible. Antique dealers and rare works of art may have some they are selling. Wedding invitation, Playbills would most likely be a great find. The more unique the item the more of a collectible it is.
You have to remember that when you are looking for something like an antique or a collectible antique that there are many people out there who are selling items they have but without a letter of authenticity it really isn’t worth much.
