Architectural Antiques

When it comes to Architectural Antiques, these are not your standard antiques; these are pieces that came from buildings 100 or more years ago. They could be anything from Columns and Fretwork, Corbels and Brackets, Shutters either, indoor and outdoor. Kitchen Cabinets, and Interior doors and Exterior Doors. These are collectibles in a sense but they really aren’t worth anything.

These pieces are very old and in some cases they are just for looking out or maybe some restoration if you plan on using them. There are antique lighting fixtures that are beautiful to look at. With some rewiring you can possibly use them again. The Pendant Lighting Fixtures were pull string attached to a flimsy rope chain with a brass ceiling fixture. These chains were light weight but the lighting fixture itself was light.

Some of the lightening fixtures were made of brass with crystal beaded chandeliers. Most of the lighting fixtures have to be wired. The antique chandeliers are beautiful; most of them were made from crystal and glass. There were other chandeliers that were made from glass and have an iron fixture.

Other popular fixtures were the bowl fixtures; they were porcelain bowls hand painted with a two tone brass canopy. They were available in different colors all depending on what style you wanted. Glass box fixtures were popular as well, the lighting fixture in your home all depended on your social living class.

Another popular collectors items from the Architectural Antiques are as strange as this may sound are door knobs. There are Broken Leaf, Cottage Garden, Daisy, Norman, Sargent 1875, Rice, Louis XIII, Ivy Leaf, Savannah, Roanoke, Oriental and Romanesque. Believe it or not people do collect door knobs. These antique knobs you can set up in a curio cabinet and set them up and display them.

We aren’t sure how much they are worth but not all collectors of antiques try to sell them to make money. Antiques are beautiful and they are ion some way shape of form a part of history. Not everything is about the price tag.
