Antiques Arts
Antique Arts can tell a story if you are looking at the right picture. The best types of art are the paintings that are from war and historical moments. Other prints are popular especially if they are from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s .Some of these fine works of art is the Rev. J.G Wood and L Prang “Bull Frog” circa 1898 in New York City. A painting called the Ardista Paniculata, it’s a picture of a flower and the date on the painting was created in 1822.
Paintings from back in these days are very different than the paintings you see today. They were much simpler in more colorful. There are some nice black and white paintings, one theme is called the American Scenery and it was painted by WH Bartlett in 1840 called the, The Silver Cascade and the other was called Trenton High Falls and that was also created in 1840.
Another group of pencil drawings were from W Shaw and one was called Group of Dachshund this painting was created in 1880 and the other picture was Begund Moulon in 1880. Rounding out the trio of pencil drawings from W Shaw and it is called Siberian Wolfhounds circa 1880.
Thomas Doughty published what was called Cabinet of Natural History in 1930 which in contrast to W Shaw because his pictures were done in pencil but these pictures were done in color. Another picture called the Cabinet of American Sports and the picture itself was called The Cabinet of American History. This picture was done in 1830.
In addition to the pictures of animals and scenery, other paintings were done in that same time period. For example, the Hoffmann 1844 German Lithograph from Das Buch Der Walt, Carl Hoffman ED 1844, was a picture of sea shells on the beach. Antique Art can be just as interesting as collecting other types of antiques. All you have to know is what you like or if you buy according to time periods then you will have some different pictures and styles to choose from.
